Part one of this course is conducted online followed by, onsite skills evaluation following successful completion of the online learning and testing component.   Students need to complete the online portion of the program using the directions and key provided in the confirmation email and provide a completion certificate before being admitted to the skills testing portion of the program.   Both online and skills verification must be completed to receive a certification card.

This course is completed online with a brief skills verification following successful completion of the online portion.  To complete this course please follow these simple steps:

  1. Read the directions in your confirmation email and activate your online course using the key code provided
  2. Complete the online portion of the course and print the completion certificate
  3. Contact NLTFPD TC by emailing her at trainingcenter@nltfpd.net or by calling (775) 831-8117 to schedule your skills verification session
  4. Course cards will be provided at the conclusion of your skills verification

The BLS Instructor Essentials Course teaches information needed to instruct AHA's BLS for Healthcare Providers and Heartsaver® classroom courses and to conduct skills practice and skills testing sessions for BLS for Healthcare Providers and Heartsaver eLearning courses. These courses include:

BLS Instructor Essentials covers planning and preparation for courses, instructing courses, conducting written exams and skills testing and keeping your BLS Instructor status current. It includes approximately 30 minutes of general information about instructing AHA courses, followed by course-specific information.

The online course is the first step to becomming a BLS Instructor with NLTFPD.

Description: Heartsaver®  CPR AED is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches adult CPR and AED use, as well as how to relieve choking on an adult.  This course teaches skills with AHA’s research-proven Practice-While-Watching (PWW) technique, which allows instructors to observe the students, provide feedback and guide the students’ learning of skills.

Audience: This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory or other requirements.

 

The AHA’s Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED Online Part 1 Course is a blended learning course that contains information on how to respond to and manage illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. This course provides a one-stop shop for pediatric first aid, CPR and AED training needs for child care providers. You will learn:

  • The Four Steps of First Aid (Prevent, Be Safe, Phone 911, Act)
    • Illnesses and injuries (topics include but are not limited to)
      • Allergic Reactions
      • Asthma
      • Bleeding and Bandaging
      • Diabetes and Low Blood Sugar
      • Drowning
      • Dehydration
      • Head, Neck, and Spine Injuries
      • Seizure
      • Temperature-Related Issues
    • Child and infant safety checklist
  • CPR, AED and choking

After Completing the Online Session,

the Students will meet for the 3.0-hr SKILLS ONLY Session.

This one day ACLS recertification course is being offered as part of the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District Annual Paramedic Refresher. 

In this classroom-based course, providers enhance their skills in treating adult victims of cardiac arrest or other cardiopulmonary emergencies, while earning their American Heart Association ACLS (AHA ACLS) for Healthcare Providers Course Completion Card.

 

This one day course is provided as part of the North Lake Tahoe Paramedic Refresher. This course is approved by the State of Nevada EMS as a part of a state approved paramedic refresher, as well as for CME’s and the State of Nevada Board of Nursing for 9 CME’s. This course is also approved by the State of California EMS, and SSV CE’s, and Eldorado Co EMS. Reciprocity is provided for California Nurses through Nevada CME’s. 

This one day ITLS recertification course is offered as part of the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection Districts Annual Paramedic Refresher.

Advanced ITLS is a comprehensive course for EMT-P's, trauma nurses, physicians and other advanced EMS personnel. The ITLS Advanced course covers the skills necessary for rapid assessment, resuscitation, stabilization and transportation of trauma patients , using as its core, the ITLS Basic Course. The 9-hour recertification course emphasizes evaluation steps and sequencing and techniques for resuscitation and packaging a patient. Hands-on stations include: basic and advanced airway, chest decompression and fluid resuscitation, spinal restriction/rapid extrication, short back board, helmet management, log roll and long back board, traction splints, patient assessment and management.

This ITLS recertification course is offered as part of the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection Districts Annual Paramedic Refresher. 

This one day PALS recertification course is offered as part of the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection Districts Annual Paramedic Refresher. 

The PALS Course is for healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children. These include personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units such as physicians, nurses, paramedics and others who need a PALS course completion card for job or other requirements.

 

The goal of the program is to provide 27 hours of CME’s annually of the 48 hours of CME’s required for Bi-annual recertification by NREMT per DOT recommendations. Attending two consecutive years constitutes a Nevada State approved Paramedic level refresher.

All three days will provide certification in their respective disciplines. This conference is designed to provide the Continuing Education necessary to recertify as a paramedic in a innovative and exciting format. This year we are offering certification in PALS, ITLS, and ACLS. The course is approved by the State of Nevada EMS and the State of Nevada Board of Nursing for 27 CME’s. This course is also approved by the State of California EMS, SSV, and Eldorado Co EMS for 27 CME’s.
